At Pico Digital Marketing, the future of advertising must be both sustainable and effective. As a remote-first, digital-native agency founded in 2014, we have bypassed the carbon-heavy legacy of traditional agencies. Our "Follow the Sun" model enables us to deliver global excellence without the environmental costs of centralized, high-energy offices or daily commuting.

We fully support the Scottish Government’s target of Net Zero by 2045 and align our operations with the urgent requirements of the Climate Emergency.

1. Our "Digital-First" Operational Model

Our core business structure is designed to minimize environmental impact:

  • Remote-First Excellence: By eliminating physical headquarters, we remove the carbon footprint associated with large-scale office heating, cooling, and employee commuting.
  • The Paperless Pipeline: We operate a 100% paperless workflow. All project management, creative collaboration, and client reporting are conducted via high-efficiency, cloud-based platforms.
  • Follow the Sun, Not the Plane: Our global hubs in Glasgow, Denver, and Cape Town enable 24/7 campaign optimization via digital handovers, reducing the need for international travel.

2. Technology & Circular Economy

We recognize that digital services still require hardware and energy. We manage this through:

  • Equipment Lifecycle Management: We invest in high-performance hardware designed for longevity. When equipment reaches its functional end-of-life for our technical needs, we prioritize refurbishment and donation to schools or community organizations before engaging in certified E-waste recycling.
  • Cloud Efficiency: We partner with global technology leaders (Google, Meta, Amazon) who are committed to 100% renewable energy and carbon neutrality for their data centers.
  • Digital Carbon Footprint: We strive for "lightweight" digital assets—optimizing image and video files to reduce energy used for data transfer without compromising visual quality.

3. Travel & Logistics

While we value face-to-face connections, we treat travel as a secondary option:

  • Virtual-First Meetings: Our default policy is to meet via Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom to eliminate unnecessary mileage.
  • Strategic Consolidation: When in-person attendance is essential, we consolidate multiple activities into a single trip to minimize total carbon emissions.

4. Commitment to Transparency

Pico Digital Marketing is committed to evolving our sustainability practices as new tools and standards emerge:

  • Carbon Transparency: While our decentralized model naturally results in low Scope 1 and 2 emissions, we are open to using carbon-tracking tools to support client reporting and carbon budgeting.
  • Continuous Improvement: We regularly review our supply chain and operational habits to identify new opportunities for reduction and efficiency.

Our Vision for Impact

We believe a marketing agency’s greatest contribution to the planet is the influence of its messaging. By highlighting eco-certified businesses and encouraging responsible travel, we aim to drive a sustainable future for the brands and communities we represent.
